How We Organize Our Community and Nurture the Youth
At Dunguza Football Project, we believe that building a strong and supportive community is the first step in empowering our youth. Our approach goes beyond the football field—it’s about creating an environment where young people feel valued, motivated, and part of something greater than themselves.
Everything we do is rooted in local participation. From organizing matches to maintaining our training space, the community plays a vital role. Parents, elders, and local volunteers contribute their time, resources, and encouragement, creating a sense of shared responsibility for the success of our youth.
We use football not just as a sport, but as a platform for life skills. Coach Mathewos, our committed volunteer, works with the players to teach discipline, respect, and goal-setting. Training sessions are consistent and structured, giving youth a sense of routine and purpose.
Older players mentor the younger ones, passing on skills and lessons both on and off the pitch. This peer-to-peer support system helps build confidence and responsibility while reinforcing a culture of leadership from within.
We encourage our players to stay in school and value their education. We often hold informal talks on topics like health, teamwork, and character, making sure our youth grow as complete individuals, not just athletes.
Our goal is to create lasting change by giving young people the tools they need to succeed—whether in football or in life. With continued community support and passion, we believe Dunguza can be a model for youth development across the region.
